We do a lot of cool stuff with custom bike builds around here at Bicycle Sport. Pictures of tricked-out bikes generate a ton of looks and “likes” when we post them up on Facebook and on our website. Why wouldn’t they, right? Seeing what other folks are doing with and to their bikes is inspiring, thought-provoking and downlight jealousy-inducing just for starters. Just in the past week, we’ve dialed-up some pretty spectacular projects including a stealthy, carbon featherweight Parlee, complete with Dura-Ace Di2 and hydraulic disc brakes, and Brian is putting the finishing touches on top-end Moots Vamoots disc road build. Yep, these tailor-made beauties will turn a lot of heads and be a joy to ride.
Before you hit those links to the aforementioned bike porn, know this: “custom” isn’t just reserved for over-the-top builds, spare-no-expense budgets or exotic materials. Making a bike “yours” involves asking what you really want out of the experience and what you intend to do with the bike, then taking that vision and turning it into a reality. Whether that means a full-on, from-the-ground-up production, taking your existing bike through a proper fitting, or adding racks, fenders, grips, bling or other accessories that help a bike better meet your needs or reflect your personality.
Just tell us where and how you like to ride. There’s a team member at Bicycle Sport who’s likely been down that road (or trail) and can share what they’ve learned to make your next experience on the bike even better.
