What We’re Riding at Bicycle Sport
Our man Chris Dies loves him some things that go fast! Well, he’s a pilot after all. Right now he’s living it up (and down the hills) on his Trek Fuel EX 8. Here’s what Chris has to say about his new wheels!
I ended up purchasing a Trek Fuel EX 8 because I believe it suited my riding styles best and it was the best “Bang-for-Buck,” bike in the Trek line-up. The bike has a 120mm suspension that allows me to toe the line at a cross country race or head out to Pisgah and do some gnarly descents! The Trek Fuel EX 8 is also the first Fuel in the line-up to have the Reaktiv rear shock (a must have, in my opinion) Mino-Link suspension adjustment, Boost 148mm and 110mm hub spacing (for stiffer wheels,) and a KS dropper seat post; All for sub $3,000!
I did add a Bontrager Montrose Elite saddle, for a happy bottom, and Bontrager Carbon RXL bars to really smooth out the ride. I also went with a Race Face Narrow wide 30 tooth 1x setup which shaved a full pound off my bike, and the new XT M8000 brakes. Bar none, it’s the nicest mountain bike brake set I’ve ever had! All in all, I love my bike and wouldn’t trade it for anything! It is comfortable and fits my needs perfectly!
